There was a time when being an Islamist was the most vulnerable political position in Egypt and Tunisia. Understand that now it very well might be Woman. As it always has been.

Human rights activists from around the world gather annually at the Human Rights Defenders Policy Forum at The Carter Center to discuss national and global issues affecting access to and the enjoyment of human rights.  The forum is taking place this week, April 3-6, 2011, with a focus on ‘Religion, Belief, and Women’s Rights’ with discussions led by former U.S. President Jimmy Carter and current U.N. High Commissioner for Human Rights, Navi Pillay.
